50 shades of white

Sorry about the title, I just couldn’t help myself….but it still has something to do with the images! During a recent trip to the Bavarian forest I had to look hard for the snow we had come for, instead we had heavy hoarfrost in all types and colours, from see-through feather structures created by freezing gales and mist through to soft, dry, layered powder hoarfrost on different days and slightly different temperatures. Lots of snow is great for Christmas card images, but snow would have ruined these…

Ik kon het even niet laten… Maar bovenstaande titel heeft wel degelijk wat met de beelden te maken! Tijdens mijn laatste reis naar Beieren was er (relatief) weinig sneeuw. Eigenlijk was sneeuw waar ik voor was gekomen. Wel waren er allerlei soorten rijp, van doorzichtig hard en veervormig tot spierwit zacht en ‘gelaagd’. Veel sneeuw is leuk voor kerstkaarten, maar koud weer overbrengen gaat beter met ijs….
